OK, I confess I must be getting old (true) and turning into a Luddite. But unless you are essentially in the journalism business, whether mainstream or not, I still don't see the general purpose business use case for Twitter.
Not that this matters, since the site continues to grow in popularity and is acquiring more than its fair of quality talent from the big boys. If the value proposition is "status updates" the question becomes just how often is that necessary?
It seems like a certain percentage of the population has lots of bandwidth for this sort of activity, but I have to wonder given the current economic conditions, how long this will last. Sooner or later, even the "chattering classes" will have to do "real work"--or so it seems.
